The Voe Show
The agricultural shows in Shetland are huge events for the local communities, so far the Vow, Walls and Cunningsburgh Shows have taken place, with the Unst and Yell shows still to come.
I was so honoured to be invited to judge the Fair Isle knitwear at the Voe Show this year along with the lovely Barbara Leslie. You may have heard me mention her before, she's a valuable member of my team, finishing most of the jumpers my business produces.
Judging was not easy, the standard was so high and the pieces were so beautiful! Many of our decisions came down to functionality, neatly woven ends and evenly placed button holes on cardigans. We had a busy morning, but I did manage to take a few photos!
Free Knitting Tutorial Videos on YouTube [NOW LIVE]
I am so excited to be showing this for the first time on the blog post! I have started the resources for beginner knitters with the videos now uploaded to YouTube. I plan to be adding to this for the next couple of months, including adding written descriptions and words of wisdom as well as collating it nicely so keep your eyes peeled.
I would always recommend a class where possible, having someone to help you get your hands on the needles is always great. I created these videos to send to students after a class as a reminder. I hope you find them helpful.
If you or anyone you know decides to use these please let me know what you think and if there's anything to be added. As I mentioned, this is the very start, there's more to come, so any feedback is great!
What We've Been Making This Month
This month has involved a lot of making, we're fulfilling orders, building stock for Wool Week and the Christmas Season, and writing a few patterns for knitters!
Having Barbara, Joyce and Janice helping me out this year is making a huge difference. I'm so enjoying settling into routine with my fantastic team and having a little more time to come up with new designs!
